Tingog Partylist concludes extensive relief drive for Carina-affected areas
IN a powerful display of unity and compassion, Tingog Partylist, led by Rep. Yedda Romualdez and Rep. Jude Acidre, in collaboration with the Office of the House Speaker, successfully concluded a comprehensive relief operation on August 2, 2024.
This initiative was launched in response to the devastating floods and torrential rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm Carina and the southwest monsoon, which severely impacted several areas in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon.
Demonstrating their unwavering commitment to providing immediate assistance to calamity victims, Tingog Partylist distributed an impressive total of 21,282 relief packs across 17 affected areas in Metro Manila and Calabarzon.
The operation began at Malanday Elementary School in Marikina City, where the team served 3,000 hot meals to evacuees who had sought refuge after the Marikina River’s water level alarmingly reached 20.8 meters, triggering a third alarm.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the aftermath of Super Typhoon Carina has been tragic, claiming 14 lives and affecting over a million Filipinos, while significantly disrupting economic activities.
Consequently, Metro Manila was placed under a state of calamity.
House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Rep. Jude Acidre took a hands-on approach, personally leading the relief operations team and visiting evacuees in designated evacuation centers in San Juan City and various areas of Quezon City.
Their presence underscored the gravity of the situation and the commitment of the government to support its citizens in times of need.
Rep. Yedda Romualdez encapsulated the spirit of the operation, stating, “The immediate response of Tingog Partylist is a testament to our sincerity and dedication to serving the Filipino people.
We stand with our fellow citizens in these challenging times and are committed to alleviating their suffering.”
As the relief operation drew to a close, the final batch of relief packs was distributed to 1,000 affected families in San Mateo and Montalban, Rizal.
The coordinated efforts of Tingog Partylist, Speaker Romualdez and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlight a continued commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the marginalized and delivering prompt, quality service to the Filipino people.
