Timely warning
EVERYBODY agrees that the presence of online scammers is a major problem of law enforcement authorities and the Filipino people.
That’s why we commend the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) for warning the public against accepting overseas job offers.
Particularly those POGO (Philippine Overseas Gaming Operations) jobs disguised as customer service representative posts.
PAOCC told jobseekers not to accept job offers to work as customer service representatives in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
If you accept any of these job offers, PAOCC Director Winston Casio warned that “you have a 50-50 chance of being tortured.”
The victims will be forced to scam people and get tortured, according to the highly-articulate PAOCC director.
We agree with well-meaning people that the public would do well to just ignore these job offers on social media.
“Huwag na huwag tayong maniwala sa mga sweet-talking scammers para hindi tayo mabiktima,” said a former overseas Filipino worker.
