Timely warning
THE government, through concerned state offices and agencies, hopes to speed up the socio-economic development of Mindanao.
Thus, the authorities must maintain peace and order in the region if we are to succeed in uplifting the living conditions of the people there.
Without peace, Mindanaoans now living in various parts of the country, including Metropolitan Manila (MM), are not yet willing to return home.
“Paano kami uuwi kung nandiyan pa rin ang patayan at kaguluhan sa ibang parte ng Mindanao?,” according to an elderly Muslim trader.
Thus, it is heartening to know that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has warned the warring members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Central Mindanao.
The AFP urged the warring MILF members “to let cool heads dominate instead of resorting to armed fighting that has put at risk other people not party to their dispute.”
The AFP issued the warning after three base commands of the MILF slugged out with each other last Wednesday.in a bid to take control of 280 hectares of rice lands in Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur.
Reports said the armed clashes had sent hundreds of villagers scampering away to safety.
The government is now pacifying the warring groups in Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur for the sake of Mindanaoans.
