VICE presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte appealed to Filipinos to start “living with COVID-19” instead of waiting for the pandemic to end.

In an interview during her Mahalin Natin Ang Pilipinas Ride in Ilocos Sur, Mayor Sara shared the Davao City experience which it already opened its trade and business hubs to start reviving the economy.

“Lagi kong pinapa-alala sa aming mga kapatid na Dabawenyo na kailangan we should be people living with COVID. Huwag na po natin antayin na ma-eradicate o mawala ang COVID dahil wala pong kasiguraduhan kung mawawala pa ba ang COVID,” Mayor Sara said.

“Doon po sa amin sa Davao sinisumulan na po naming buksan ang aming syudad,” she said.

The Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago bet said people should be resilient to the pandemic to discourage further lockdowns which greatly hamper economic activities.

“We have to adjust, be resilient and live with COVID na wala na pong nangyayaring lockdowns” she said.

She said that as the country recovers from the effects of the pandemic, Filipinos must also do their part by following minimum health standards set by the Department of Health (DOH).

“Ang sinasabi po ng mga public health experts ay ang pagsusuot ng mask, distansya, at paghuhugas ng kamay,” she said.

The presidential daughter then also urged people to get vaccinated and get booster shots as these are widely available to the general public.

“Isa po tayo sa mga bansa na ang general population na nagbo-booster sa sobrang dami po ng ating available na mga bakuna,” the mayor added.
