TIAONG, Quezon — TWO wins in a row for host team Tiaong Meaksyon and Siomai King.

Tiaong Meaksyon bested RV Sports Wildcats, 81-76 while Siomai King subdued Kuala Lumpur Aseel, 95-70, to share the lead in the D2 Super Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament presented by the Pilipinas Super League (PSL) at the Tiaong Convention Center here Saturday.

Warren Bonifacio, Paolo Hernandez, and Clint Escamis combined for 44 points to lead Tiaong to another morale-boosting victory infront of an adoring home crowd.

Bonifacio finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, Hernandez added 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists and Escamis contributed 10 points, eight assists and five blocks for the home team.

Khent Guiab paced RV Sports Wildcats’ losing efforts with with 22 points and five rebounds, followed by EJ Lameseria with a double-double of 11 points, 11 assists with six rebounds.

Deo Abanilla chipped in with 10 points.

In the second game, Joshua Alcober led Manila Stars’ 99-70 victory over Candelaria.

Alcober made his presence felt with monster numbers of 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and 14 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

Joe Benzon Joven added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Mark Yu and Gio Espuelas contributed also stepped up for Manila Stars with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Kim Justin Maligaya finished with 16 points in a losing effort for Candelaria,.

Vince Kristoffer Ras had 13 points, and John Ellis Mayol added 11 points.

Also, the 1-2 punch of Emmanuel Ojuola and Encho Serrano powered Siomai King to a second straight victory over Kuala Lumpur Aseel.

Ojuola finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Serrano had 20 points, six assists and five rebounds and veteran Leo Najorda added 15 points.

Only three players scored in double digits for Kuala Lumpur.

Yong Gan Wee topscored with 14 points and five assists, followed by Zhen Jie Tem with 13 points, and Jing Hung Lee also with 11 markers and six boards.
