NAVOTAS City Representative Toby Tiangco, chairman of the House Committee on Information and Communications, is pushing for more government programs to help senior citizens adapt to technology and protect them from fraud.

“Our senior citizens are one of sectors that are vulnerable to scams. We in government should make it a priority to help them acclimate to new technology and protect them from fraud,” Tiangco said in a statement.

Tiangco noted how technology has made it easier for fraudsters to commit crime online.

Tiangco said there are government programs in place that provide trainings on digital literacy.

However, he said majority of the public is unaware that these programs exist.

Tiangco said that apart from transformation hubs, DICT should make it a priority to help seniors become more confident in using digital platforms for communication and transactions.
