Thrilling win for Farm Fresh
FARM Fresh earned its first winning streak in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference with a 26-24, 13-25, 25-21, 25-19 tripping of ZUS Coffee last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Trisha Tubu had 28 points on 27-of-56 spikes as the Foxies rallied to win the extended first set and overcame a flat second set by securing the next two to prevail and halt the Thunderbelles’ two-match winning streak.
Slowly getting into the groove of things under new coach Benson Bocboc, Farm Fresh moved in a tie with ZUS Coffee and Akari at 2-2.
“Sa nakikita natin kung paano sila gumagalaw. So kapag may nakita tayong hindi maganda, hindi nag-aayon doon sa normal nilang galaw, eh kailangan nating i-tama agad natin yung direksyon. Iyon iyong nangyari kanina,” said Bocboc.
“Sa dalawang set, medyo off na off talaga. So iyon yung mga bagay na ayusin namin kasi kailangang masanay silang lumaban at maglaro ng mas marami pang matches,” he added.
Alyssa Bertolano had two blocks and two service aces to finish with 12 points that went along with 12 digs and 12 receptions while Rizza Cruz added eight points, including two blocks for the Foxies.
Top rookie pick Thea Gagate led the Thunderbelles with 16 points, including a match-best three blocks, while Chinnie Arroyo fired two service aces for a 10-point outing.
Jovelyn Gonzaga also scored 10 points and had nine receptions and eight digs.
ZUS Coffee reached set point, 24-20, but Farm Fresh rallied by scoring six straight points to take 1-0 lead.
After the Thunderbelles leveled the match at one set apiece, Tubu imposed her will in the next two for the Foxies to prevail, following up their four-set conquest of the Chargers.
