Thousands celebrate Feast of Sto. Nino in Pasay City

THOUSANDS of devotees joined the city wide parade of different images of Infant Jesus initiated by Mayor Emi-Calixo-Rubiano on Saturday afternoon in celebration of the Feast of Sto Nino in Pasay City.

Long lines of devotees, dancing groups in colorful costumes, and Ati-Atihan bands paraded on the main thoroughfares in Pasay City along with floats of different statues of the Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus.

Around 90 Sto Nino floats from different barangays, cities in the metropolis, and nearby provinces, took part in the parade that started at 3 p.m. in front of the Pasay City Hall that went through the streets of F.B. Harrison. EDSA, Roxas Boulevard, Gil Puyat Avenue (Buendia). The parade ended at around 9 p.m. at the Macapagal Avenue.

“We, the people of Pasay City, welcome all the devotees of Our Lord Jesus Christ in honoring His Holy Childhood and His Most Holy Name. Hope, faith, and love is the message of the Holy Child,” said Mayor Emi, who was Hermana Mayor.

The mayor, who shared her immense enthusiasm with Pasay folk, said the momentous event will be carried out every year after it was halted for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Emi said the six-hour street-parade organized by Pasay City Hall in collaboration with the Congregacion del Nobre de Jesus went well with no untoward incident reported.

Pasay City Police Chief P/Col Froilan Uy said they deployed 90 policemen from the local police force and 40 from the Southern Police District (SPD) which were sent by Director P/BGen.
