MORE government infrastructure projects, including hundreds of permanent shelters intended for families of internally displaced people (IDPs), have been completed and turned over recently by the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM).

TFBM Chairman Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario spearheaded last Friday the handing over of 250 permanent shelters to IDP families who used to reside on danger zones along the Lake Lanao and the Agus River inside the Most Affected Area (MAA).

The turned over shelters are located in Pamayandeg sa Ranao Residences at Dansalan located in Barangays Kilala and Mipantao-Gadongan.

Of the total housing units, 100 were constructed by the National Housing Authority (NHA), which also led in handling land acquisition, while the other 150 were carried out by UN-Habitat with funding from the Japanese government.

A total of 1,800 permanent shelters will be constructed on this site – 1,500 will be produced by the NHA while the other 300 by UN-Habitat.

Led by Secretary Del Rosario and witnessed by Mayor Majul Gandamra and mosque administrator Yasrulah Sheikh, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed with Property Company of Friends Inc. (ProFriends) at the TFBM Field Office also last Friday.

“As these mosques hold great significance in the daily lines of the Maranaos, we not only rebuild the structures but likewise contribute to the social healing process of the internally displaced persons. And that is why we continue to take steps in making sure that we rebuild them,” Secretary Del Rosario said.
