A TEACHER-DAUGHTER of a ranking local New People’s Army leader was arrested in Masbate for murder, Police Regional Office 5 director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo yesterday said.

Mariel Suson, daughter of Rogelio Suson, a ranking NPA leader in Masbate City, was arrested on Tuesday in Bgy. Cabungahan, Cawayan municipality.

The young Suson was nabbed on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder issued last June 18 by Judge Arnelo Mesa of the Masbate City Regional Trial Court .

No bail was recommended.

Suson is the daughter of Rogelio alias “Manong/Julio,” described as the secretary of the NPA’s Kilusang Larangan Gerilya in Masbate under the CPP/NPA’s Bicol Regional Party Committee.

Mariel herself was described as a member of the local NPA movement by the police and the military.

Mariel’s arrest was connected to the killing of Renerio Villamor in Masbate City last April 22. She and eight other suspected NPA members were charged in court in the aftermath of Villamor’s death.

The PRO5 said it had received information that Mariel was teaching at the Kabungahan Elementary School in Cawayan.

She and her father were also among those charged in connection with the killing of FEU and former national football player Keith Absalon and his cousin in Masbate City last June 6.

The accused are also facing criminal charges for violation of RA 9851 or the Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide and Other Crimes Against Humanity.
