A DIVERSE range of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local sellers in the province join this year’s Independence celebration at SM Bulacan Malls in Marilao, Baliwag, San Jose Del Monte and Pulilan.

Taking a new approach to Independence Day, SM malls in Bulacan have expanded its celebration with Pinoy Buys, Pinoy Eats campaign. This campaign aims to help businesses, especially local brands and homegrown Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), who have been greatly affected by the pandemic. Rolled out all throughout the week, Pinoy Buys, Pinoy Eats intends to help shoppers find, discover, and support MSMEs and local businesses in the malls.

In SM City Marilao, at least 29 exhibitors participated in the trade fair. Shoppers were delighted as astounding range of comfort food, bags, footwear, home decors, fashion accessories, apparel, novelty products, personal care products as well as unique gift items are featured in Tatak Bulakenyo Trade Fair located at SM City Marilao mall atrium. Among the crowd’s favorite booth at the trade fair are Pandi’s Andrei House of Barong and Arymyths International Fashion Design who employs housewives in Malolos to create one of a kind beaded jewelries made from semi-precious stones, natural beads and precious metals as well as hand woven bags.

“We are grateful to SM for this opportunity to showcase our products” says Arymyths International Fashion Design owner Myta Garcia.

Shoppers at SM City Baliwag had a rare glimpse of Filipino craftsmanship as the mall brought together the best of locally made products at the ground level at the mall. SM City Baliwag showcases Philippine export quality products such as iPlant’s native rattan planters in different sizes, patterns and styles, as well as the trending Bamboo bags that are uniquely hand knitted and 100% bamboo made.

Locally made products and delicacies are also displayed at the ‘Pinoy Buys, Pinoy Eats’ bazaar located at the lower ground floor of SM City San Jose del Monte. Farm-produced mushroom chips, honey, rice crackers, pork chicharon, bagnet, and rice cakes or kakanin as well as locally-made shirts, bags and hats are the products popular among shoppers.

SM Center Pulilan, on the other hand, gathered Bulacan’s pioneer local delicacy brands such as Malolos’ Citang’s since 1970, Plaridel’s Bibingka ni Ka Rick and other local players all in one venue.

“We believe that supporting our own MSMEs makes us all heroes. Buying from them helps local businesses bounce back, especially in these trying times” says SM Center Pulilan Assistant Mall Manager Alvin De Galicia.

Giving tribute and homage to country’s historical stand made on June 12, 1988, timeless and symbolic attributes of red, blue, white, and yellow can be seen everywhere in the mall. These trimmings hope to remind Filipino’s resiliency and unity as SM commemorates the 124th Philippine Independence.

“The freedom hues trimmings represent our resiliency as Filipino especially during these challenging times; these threads may stretch or tangle but will never break” shares SM City Marilao Mall Manager Engr. Emmanuel Gatmaitan. “It also stands as a symbolic display of unity that binds the Filipino people” Engr. Gatmaitan added.

SM Bulacan Malls in Marilao, San Jose Del Monte, Baliwag and Pulilan on June 12 will pay tribute to past and modern day heroes with a solemn flag ceremony and local performances that are proudly ‘Tatak Bulakenyo’.
