THE mega Task Force Against Corruption have already received a total of 220 complaints majority of them involving local government units and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

This was revealed by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday, adding the task force has already submitted a mid-year report to Malacañang regarding its investigation.

The task force, which is being led by the Department of Justice, was created to specifically go after corrupt and erring government officials and employees,

“The DOJ-led task force against corruption (TFAC) submitted its midyear report to the President on 9 June 2021. As of said date, the TFAC had received at least 220 complaints of alleged corrupt activities in government. Around 210 of these complaints had been acted upon quietly by the task force,” Guevarra said in a message.

” The agencies/units with the most number of complaints were various LGUs, followed closely by the DPWH. Many of the complaints were about anomalous transactions perpetrated jointly by these LGUs and district engineering offices,” he continued.

The other government agencies with large number of complaints are the Land Registration Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Customs, and some government owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), Guevarra said.

Furthermore, Guevarra continued that the task force has referred to the Office of the Ombudsman 15 cases for further investigation and evaluation.

Guevarra said that 15 other cases were referred to the National Bureau of Investigation for case build-up, while other cases were forwarded to pertinent government agencies for the conduct of administrative investigation.

Last December, President Duterte directed the DOJ to investigate corruption in the entire government.

“I hope that all government workers, officials are listening. This is a memorandum from me to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra. The subject is investigating corruption allegations in the entire government,” he said in a taped speech.

“I will concentrate the last remaining years of my term fighting corruption kasi hanggang ngayon, hindi humihina, lumalakas pa lalo. Para na tuloy naging inutil ang mga opisyal ng bayan, na wala talagang magawa with the onslaught of corruption,” the President vowed.
