Tangkang pagpupuslit ng P85M halaga ng frozen meat, chicken sa MICP napigilan ng BOC
TINATAYANG aabot sa P85 milyong halaga ng mga illegally imported na agricultural at poultry products ang nakumpiska at nahadlangan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) na makapasok sa Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Tiniyak naman ng BOC na sasampahan nila ng kasong smuggling at iba pang kaukulang kaso ang consignee ng naturang smuggled products na Jeroce Consumer Goods Trading at ang broker nito na si Gilbert Gucilatar Lopez, para sa naturang limang shipment na dumating noong Hunyo 15.
Kabilang umano sa mga naturang kaso ay ang paglabag sa Sections 117 (regulated importation and exportation) at 1400 (misdeclaration) in relation to Section 1113 (property subject to seizure and forfeiture) ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
“The shipments undergone 100 percent examination and found to contain frozen chicken thigh, frozen chicken breast, frozen chicken skinless breast, frozen chicken peeled breast, and frozen pork rectum with estimated value of P85 million,” ayon kay Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro.
Sinaksihan ng mga customs agents ang 100% examination ng limang 40-foot containers nan aka-consigned sa Jeroce Consumer Goods Trading kamakalawa sa MICP at natuklasang ang mga ito ay pawang misdeclared goods.
Ang Alert Order o 100% examination ay inisyu bunsod ng kahilingan ng Customs Intelligence Group (IG) at ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) ng MICP.
Kapwa nakatanggap ang IG at CIIS ng derogatory information na ang naturang shipments, na idineklarang naglalaman ng hotpot balls at steamed buns, ay naglalaman pala ng frozen meat products mula sa China.
“Upon receiving information and validation since previous shipments were already seized with said violation, a request was immediately requested to MICP district collector for issuance of Alert Order or 100 percent physical examination,” ani CIIS Director Jeoffrey C. Tacio.
Ang limang Alert Orders ay nagpapakita rin na ang CIIS-MICP ay may hinala rin na ang naturang shipments ay may lamang mga gulay.
Tiniyak naman ni MICP District Collector Romeo Allan Rosales na, “We will immediately issue a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) on the shipments.”
Pinuri naman ni Ramiro ang operasyon, gayundin ang intelligence sources na naging dahilan upang mapigilan ang naturang agricultural smuggling.
Patuloy ang pagsusumikap ng BOC na mapigilan ang pagpupuslit ng mga produktong pang-agrikultura papasok sa bansa, taliwas sa sinasabi ng iba’t ibang grupo.
