T2000, Dekada 90 share limelight

DEFENDING champion Team 2000 and Dekada Nobenta posted similar hard-earned victories at the start of 2025 ERJHS “Battle of the Generations” basketball championship at Brgy N.S. Amoranto covered court in Quezon City.

T2000 walked the tightrope before beating Team 80s, 103-101, in overtime while Dekada Noventa outsteadied Team 90s, 64-60, to take the headstart in this short, four- team tournament organized by the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club.

T2000 leaned on Eric Dob’s basket in the last eight seconds to escape with the win.

Dob’s basket came after Alvin Tanare of Team 80s tied the score for the last time at 101-all.

Team 80s had a chance to steal the win but Joseph Realista missed a desperation shot at the buzzer.

Joseph Bognot topscored with 21 points for T2000 of playing coach Jerome Nell.

Jeff Caguisa added 20 points, followed by Dob with 14 points, Chris Santiago with 12 points and Jay Santiago with 10.

Tanare sizzled with a game-high 43 points for Team 80s.

Mike Gomez added 17 points, Realista had 14 and Jonn Cano had 10.

Dekada Nobenta of playing coach Robert Capistrano relied on Rayzie (15 points), Wilson Punzal (14 ), Joey Cura (11) and Philip Sta Maria (10)..

Jeri Santos scattered 18 points for Team 90s, followed by Joseph Magpantay with 12 points and playing coach Richard Nell with 10 points.

The tournament is supported by Batch 85 Sports Club, Wang’s Ballclub, Kelme Basketball, CE Brothers Sports Clothing and Ping-Ping Lechon. AA
