Sydney Paralympian, IPCA champion at TOPS

THE Tokyo Paralympics and the coming PCAP San Miguel Corp-Ayala Land chess championships will be the topics of conversation in the 117th “Usapang Sports on Air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) via Zoom.

Sydney Paralympics powerlifting bronze medalist Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta will talk about the Filipinos’ participation in the Tokyo Paralympics and share her own experiences during the 2000 edition of the the prestigious event for the world’s top para athletes.

Also appearing in the10 a.m public service program are International Physically Disabled Chess Association (IPCA) world champion Sander Severino and coach James Infiesto, who will discuss their participation as guest team in the PCAP Third Conference later this month.

Severino, the 36-year-old pride of Silay, Negros Occidental, will also talk about his rise as the first Filipino world chess champion when he topped IPCA World Online Chess Rapid Championship last year.

Infiesto, a Board Member of the National Council on Disability Affairs, will also discuss the country’s historic fifth-place finish in the first FIDE Online Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities last December.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members and friends in the sports community to join the weekly sports forum sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

TOPS is composed of editors, columnists, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids and friends from different social media groups.

This is the 117th episode of the TOPS “Usapang Sports” since its formal launch at the National Press Club in 2018 and its 59th edition since turning to a new platform due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Veteran sportscaster Ernest Leo Hernandez is the moderator.
