A 27-YEAR-OLD male helper died after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a student hit a village patrol tricycle he was riding in on Monday in Ibaan, Batangas, police said.

Killed was Noriel Ledesma, 27, married, helper, a native of Masbate.

The suspect, who was arrested in a follow-up operation, was identified as Andrei Michael Bagui, 21 single, student, both of Bgy. Bago, Ibaan.

The disastrous incident happened at Bgy. New Road based on the report of a concerned citizen.

Case officer P/Cpl. Jonel D Pintor’s investigation showed that Ledesma, who hailed from Masbate, was riding in a barangay patrol tricycle and traversing Bgy. New Road wit when he was accidentally hit from behind by a speeding blue Ford Ranger pick-up (DCQ 8620) driven by Bagui at about 8:40 p.m.who was traversing the same direction.

The victim died on the spot due to serious injuries.
