SUV driver, owner with plate ‘7’ identified
LAND Transportation Office (LTO) chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II yesterday unmasked the mysterious persons behind the ownership of a controversial Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with protocol plate 7 that illegally entered the exclusive EDSA busway.
Mendoza presented before members of the media the driver of the white Cadillac Escalade and revealed its owner during a conference at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City.
He identified the driver as Angelito Edpan while the car is registered to Orient Pacific Corporation.
When the video went viral on social media, the LTO immediately traced the identity of the persons involved.
During the initial investigation, the agency experienced difficulty considering that there are 100 units of Cadillac Escalade in the country.
LTO experts however patiently set aside one unit after another until they trimmed down the numbers to 20. Further search of the agency’s system led to the identification of the registered owner.
Also yesterday, the LTO chief said that Edpan’s driver’s license was already confiscated while a traffic violation ticket was also issued against him.
“We will issue a show cause order and there could be more administrative charges based on the ongoing investigation,” Assec Mendoza stressed.
In the same press conference, the representative of the Orient Pacific Corporation, Omar Guinomla, confirmed that the white Cadillac Escalade is a company vehicle.
