CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – Two alleged suspects in the killing of a barangay captain in Lipa City, Batangas were arrested by the police.

Nabbed were Wilson Asi alias “Bunso” and Adrian Cristobal.

Police said Asi is a member of the Bautista Gun-For-Hire Group that operates in the province of Batangas.

Armed with a search warrant, operatives of the Lipa City Police Station arrested the suspects in Bgy 8, Lipa City.

Records showed Asi shot barangay captain Cesar Dimayuga Catibog on June 9, 2021.

The village head was disembarking from the barangay patrol car at P. Torres St., Bgy. 6, Lipa City when shot.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against suspects before the Lipa City Prosecutors Office.

“We are dead serious in implementing the intensified cleanliness policy in our communities against criminals who threaten the peace and order condition in our region. Walang puwang ang mga kriminal sa ating pamayanan kaya naman nagpapatuloy ang ating pagtugis sa mga indibidwal na ito upang mabigyang hustisya ang mga biktima,” said Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz.

Cruz urged the public to report to authorities any suspicious persons and activities and take part in the crime prevention and solution programs of the Philippine National Police.

“We will relentlessly run after members of criminal gangs or groups in the region and dismantle their illegal activities, especially that the 2022 local and national elections is fast approaching to preempt them from staging violent acts during this time,” the Calabarzon top cop said.
