Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — A female high-ranking officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) wanted for murder in Region 13 was arrested Sunday in Bgy. Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan.

Bulacan police director Col. Lawrence Cajipe identified the arrested suspect as Ma. Lorena Simon Sigua, of Bgy. Muzon, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

Cajipe said members of the Marilao and San Rafael police stations together with the Regional Intelligence Unit 3, 24th Special Action Group and PRO13 served Sigua a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Agusan del Sur, Bayugan City RTC Branch 7.

Sigua, a member of the Guerilla Front 21-Regional Operations Command-North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee, is allegedly the primary suspect in the killing of CAFGU member Bebot Bayong Sag-ob and PFC Jerald dela Cruz Giron last 2018 in Sitio Virtudazo, Bgy. San Juan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

Police said prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sigua was a volunteer teacher at the Lumad Bakwit School inside the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) and travelled to New Zealand in 2018 as resource person at the Aukland Peace Place discrediting the Philippine government for its alleged transgressions against the cultural minorities.
