Suspected illegal recruiter victimizes 3 in Batangas

BATANGAS City police continue to hunt down a suspected illegal recruiter who allegedly obtained large sums of money amounting to P225,000 from three individuals, promising them work in Taiwan, a report said the other day.

Batangas City Police Station (CPS) chief Lt. Col. Gerry M. Laylo Identified the suspect as Danica Arquillo y Bagon, of legal age, single and resident of Bgy. Dumantay, Batangas City.

The victims were identified as Adel Claveria y Ebreo, 27, married, OFW, resident of Bgy. Dumuclay East; Noel Braza y Mercado, 32, single, laborer, resident of Bgy. Mapulo, Taysan; and Homer Delen y Cortas, 28, single, unemployed, resident of Bgy. Conde Itaas, all in Batangas City.

The victims personally appeared around 5 o’clock in the afternoon at Batangas CPS to file a complaint against the lady suspect.

Case officer P/S.Sgt. Joseph Sulit disclosed that the suspect with deliberate intent to defraud another pretended that she was an authorized agent of one Grand Placement and General Services Corp. to recruit workers and to work in Taiwan. She convinced the victims to provide cash to be used for processing fees.

Claveria in good faith gave money amounting to P115,000 on June 22 at Bgy. Libjo, while Braza gave P50,000 and Delen also handed P60,000 both on June 23 at Bgy. Pallocan West, all in Batangas City.

Police said the suspect collected a total of P225,000 from the victims.
