A WEATHER forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) debunked posts circulating online and shared on social media about “Super Typhoon Maria”.

“That is untrue. There will be no weather disturbance for the next two to three days, but the southwest monsoon will still bring rains,” said PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza.

PAGASA also said official information from the weather bureau is only released through its official social media accounts and website.

It added that it is not monitoring other tropical cyclones, apart from “In-Fa” and “Nepartak” which are both outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

On Monday, Mendoza said the two weather disturbances have no direct effect on the country.

Monsoon rains will continue to be experienced over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

On the other hand, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas.

The southwest monsoon will also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. Philippine News Agency
