Sun King vying in Director’s Cup
THE Sun King basketball team will participate in the coming 2023 Director’s Cup Season 1 Basketball League on Oct. 7 at Centro Covered Court in San Lorenzo South Subdivision, Sta. Rosa.
To be handled by coach Marc Anthony Pena, assistant Roger Calpo and playing manager Irwin Joseph L. Hermogeno, Sun King will participate in the Super Daddy (40 above) division.
“We (Sun King) had a good showing in our last tournament where we finished a fighting third and this time we hope to do even better,” said Pena.
Playing team manager Hermogeno said the Sun King players continue to play after the last tournament “to keep themselves in good physical condition.”
Formed in 2006 by Hermogeno, Calpo and Pena, Sun King Basketball dominated several Super Daddy competition in San Lorenzo South by capturing 11 titles.
Sun King will bannered by Mark Cardenas, Ike Sepulvida, Vinod Sajnani, Macky Morris, Marvin Patata, Joel Salinas, Mario Anonuevo and Rico Cutaran.
Other members of the team are Emil Cipcon, Dennis DeLeon, Jeffrey Pedraya, Shiernan Acupan, Ricky Vidal and Calpo.
Sun King Basketball will face nine other teams in the Super Daddy 40 above division.
These are Katipunan Optical Clinic, Techno Zone, Patriots, Saints, Norvy Manang Dara’s, Segovia, To the Moon and Team Malilit.
The tournament is organized by Buklod Athletic Club, headed by Jiko Katipunan. AA
