Student killed, 1 hurt in Tanauan road crash
A 25-YEAR-OLD student rider was killed and his back rider injured after their motorcycle collided with the center barrier along A. Mabini Road, Barangay 6, Tanauan City Batangas, on Sunday.
Tanauan City Police said the fatality, single, a student, and Bgy. Trapiche, Tanauan City resident and the back rider, a 23-year-old female, is also a student and resident of Bgy. Balele, this city.
A telephone call from Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center (DMMC) was received by Tanauan City Police about the incident at 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 5.
Authorities immediately proceeded to the scene.
Initial investigations showed that at about 3:40 a.m., two were seen on board a black Honda Beat being driven by the fatality, traversing along A. Mabini Road heading towards Bgy. Sambat, this City direction.
Based on the CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage gathered, the rider lost control and swerved to the inner lane, hit the metal fence located along the center of the road, fell on the pavement, and sustained injuries on different parts of their body.
The injured female back rider was immediately taken by the Tanauan City Rescue team to DMMC for immediate medical attention, while the rider was brought to C.P. Reyes Hospital but was pronounced dead while undergoing medical treatment by attending physician Dra. Leonely Caleja.
