A STRAY dog led authorities to 19 dried marijuana bricks valued at nearly P2.2 million found abandoned on the national road in Tinglayan, Kalinga last Sunday.

Cordillera Police Regional Office director Brig. General Ronald Lee yesterday said the cannabis bricks weighing more than 18 kilograms were found inside two boxes topped with dried fish.

Apparently, the traffickers filled the boxes with dried fish to hide the smell of the marijuana from dog sniffers already deployed in the area.

Lee said that members of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit seized the prohibited crops on the national road in Sitio Ngilin, Poblacion, Tinglayan municipality at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Follow-up operations are underway to identify and arrest the persons behind the foiled marijuana trafficking.
