PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday reiterated his strict ‘No-Take Policy’ as he reminded all police regional offices to intensify their campaign against all forms of illegal gambling activities in their respective areas.

The PNP is also going after personalities identified to be either ‘maintaining or protecting’ illegal gambling activities in Metro Manila and other parts of the country and even using their connections in the government and the media.

Gen. Eleazar issued the directive after two Quezon City Police District station commanders and seven Police-Community Precinct chiefs were relieved from their posts due to their failure to curb illegal gambling in their areas.

The PNP chief warned that more police officers could be sacked from post if they fail to address this issue.

Eleazar added.

The top cop also issued a strong warning against those cops who “protect” those behind illegal gambling activities.

“Mananagot kayo sa akin kapag talagang kayo pa ang nagbibigay ng mga proteksyon sa mga illegal gambling lords na ito. Kasama kayo sa kakasuhan at maaari pa kayong matanggal sa serbisyo,” he said.

Gen. Eleazar lauded QCPD QCPD director, Brigadier Gen. Antonio C. Yarra for his swift action on his field commanders who have been remiss in their duties to stop illegal gambling activities in their jurisdiction.

DANAO MAINTAINS ‘ONE-STRIKE POLICY’ ON ILLEGAL GAMBLING

National Capital Region Police Office director, Major Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. also underscored his ‘One-Strike Policy’ in Metro Manila which will cause the removal of station and unit commanders who were linked or have failed to deliver in their all-out campaign against illegal gambling.

Brig. Gen. Yarra said that on Tuesday, 29 illegal gambling personalities were arrested by his men for engaging in illegal ‘online sabong, cara y cruz and card games’ in public.

Maj. Gen. Danao has also ordered the NCRPO Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Special Operations Unit to go all-out against personalities who continue to operate illegal ‘video-karera machines,’ ‘tupada’ and jueteng-like activities in Metro Manila.

The NCRPO’s five districts are under orders to stop illegal gambling activities since these are known ‘super spreader events’ where health safety protocols are being fully violated.

Metro Manila remains under General Community Quarantine Alert Level 4.”Immediate relief without a room for bargaining. This is what PCP commanders and station commanders will face should a case of illegal gambling happen in their area of jurisdiction right under their noses without them knowing,” said Maj. Gen. Danao.

“ We will strictly enforce the No-Take policy from illegal gambling and other illegal sources in line with our endeavor to deliver Serbisyong TAMA NCRPO-wide. Those who will try to go against this policy shall definitely be dealt with the full force of all existing laws and PNP policies,” said the NCRPO chief.
