HOST Santa Rosa City and Calamba City – Alta CalamBAGO fashioned out contrasting victories at the start of National Basketball League (NBL) Inter City Basketball Championship at Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

Sta. Rosa downed Cabuyao-DenHa, 104-65, while Calamba defeated Santo Tomas City, Batangas, 85-73, to take the headstart in this nine-team tournament organized by Leonardo “Ding” Andres.

In the first game, Biñan City-Vice Gel outplayed San Pedro City-Leads Agri, 99-92.

Three players — Sam DiOcampo, Aries Santos and Jelo Alanguilan — scored in double figures for Biñan City of coach Almer Almazora and team manager Vice mayor Gel Alonte.

DiOcampo led the way with 22 points, followed by Santos with 16 and Alanguilan with 10

Reggie Tautoan and Mark Roca scored 17 and 15 points for San Pedro City- Leads Agri

Also, San Pedro City-AMB downed Divertex-Nasugbu, Batangas, 88-65

Daniel Manuel Austria and Michael Joseph Homo scored 16 points each and Allen Bernard Papa and Duke Thomas Mapelo had 10 points apiece for coach Allan Mendoza and team manager Mike Miranda

Dan Lord Magpantay carried the fight for coach Florencia Lana of Nasugbu with a game-high 30 points.

Romulo Raytos is the commissioner while Marcial Macapanton and Joenard Pacquiao head the technical committee.
