GOOD news to sixth district residents of Manila who are in need of dialysis treatment.

Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the dialysis unit of the Sta. Ana Hospital, which now serves as the city of Manila’s premier hospital specially when it comes to COVID-19 cases, will have a makeover to better serve its patients.

Moreno said that a kind-hearted private individual donated P20 million for the upkeep of the said dialysis unit.

According to Moreno, the renovation has started in coordination with Sta. Ana hospital director Dr. Grace Padilla, who thanked the mayor and the sponsor, saying it is a big boost to the hospital as it continues to give the best service possible.

Padilla said the old dialysis area will undergo renovation and that the mayor said it will be fully furnished with new equipment.

Among the features of the soon to be re-opened dialysis unit, Padilla said, are six hemodialysis chairs with portable RO for COVID patients.

Padilla said there will also be isolation rooms for dialysis patients with COVID-19 while another dialysis unit will be placed at the Intensive Care Unit. The hospital’s dialysis area is located at the sixth floor.

The said dialysis unit being renovated, according to Moreno, will complement the Flora V. Valisno de Siojo Dialysis Center’ which he opened on his 45th birthday in 2019 along with Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and the late former Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, after whose grandmother the center was named.

Located at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center under director Dr. Ted Martin who also led the opening, the said center is touted to be the biggest in Southeast Asia.

Normally, dialysis treatments cost about P2,200 to P5,000 each and are done three times a week.
