St. Clare extends winning streak; New Era triumphs
SIX wins and counting for defending champion St.Clare College-Caloocan.
St. Clare brought down Philippine Christian University, 49-41, to extend its winning streak to six games in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) Season 22 basketball tournament at the Enderun gymnasium
Ahron Estacio stood at the forefront of the Saints’ victory as he scored 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting on top of five assists and five steals in 25 minutes of play.
Babacar Ndong added eight points, 14 rebounds and three blocks while Megan Galang contributed eight points and four rebounds for the Caloocan City-based Saints of coach Jino Manansala.
Ryan Sual chipped in six points and three rebounds.
Jesus Derek Daluz and Steven Aren De Castro paced the losing effort of the Biboy Simon-mentored Dolphins.
Daluz led the way with 11 points, three assists and three steals in 19 minutes of action while De Castro added 10 points.
Later, New Era University defeated AMA Universities and Colleges, 88-75.
The Hunters of coach Jay Agsalud leaned on King Gallardo with 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field while adding three rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes of play.
The Hunters got 10 points from John Mark Labio and 10 points each from James Manzano and Toritseju Adams.
Adams also had 12 rebounds.
Earl Bryan Ceniza’s 32 points are not enough for the Kings of coach Mark Herrera.
Ceniza went 11-of-21 shooting and nine rebounds in almost 31 minutes of play.
Reed Baclig tallied 13 markers and eight dimes in a losing effort.
. JC Yambao chipped in 10 points.
