PRISON officers at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Oriental Mindoro have seized improvised weapons, mobile phones, cigarettes, and other contraband during “Oplan Galugad”.
A total of 37 correction officers led the operation at the facility’s Building 1A and Building 2 with the police force on standby, Thursday afternoon.
The seized items were turned over to the Property Custodian for safekeeping and proper disposition.
Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) that violated Prison Rules and Regulations will face administrative charges which will be filed before the Board of Discipline.
Apart from SPPF, the other Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) prison facilities are the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, and the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City;
Also, the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City, and the Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.
BuCor is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Under the law, the DOJ has administrative supervision over BuCor.
