Speedy release of subsidy for transport sector ordered
TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jaime Bautista on Tuesday met with Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III to discuss programs concerning public transportation.
Officials from the LTFRB briefed the transport chief on updates regarding the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), Service Contracting Program, fuel subsidy, equity subsidy for cooperatives, motorcycle taxis, and the provision of additional subsidy to transport workers, especially PUV drivers.
Bautista directed the LTFRB to speed up the release of equity subsidy to attract more operators and drivers to form cooperatives.
Present during the meeting with LTFRB officials were Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary and Chief-of-Staff Reineir Paul Yebra and Communications and Commuter Affairs Office (CCAO) Assistant Secretary Hector Villacorta.
