THE PROVINCE of Batangas gave the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to first responders, evacuees, and residents of neighboring local government units at the DREAM Zone Vaccination Hub in the Provincial Capitol Compound.

Among the 2,000 vaccinees in the special vaccination program were members of the Philippine National Police, Batangas Bureau of Fire Protection, emergency and relief operations workers, as well as those in designated evacuation centers.

They were prioritized in recognition of their duties in Taal Volcano disaster management and relief operations that began on July 1 of this year.

The Department of Health (DOH), together with the Batangas Provincial Health Office, Batangas Province Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19, DOH-Batangas Province, Batangas Medical, is the shoulder of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 in the important program.

Gov. DoDo Mandanas thanked the NTF and DOH, as well as several officials who represented the national government and joined the program, which included Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and NTF Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vince Dizon, who all recognized the importance of the Batangueño frontliners.

“At a time when the province is facing another possible test, it is important to ensure the health of the Batangueño frontliners who are prominent in the organization of relief operations, as well as the vulnerable sectors,” Governor Mandanas said.

The governor further pointed out that the provincial government, together with and assisting local government officials around Taal Volcano Island, will perform their duties to the best of their ability without exacerbating the effects of the pandemic in the said areas.
