Speaker, TINGOG party list join hands to help indigent patients
THE Offices of the Speaker and Tingog Party-list lead by Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre have led the signing of a memorandum of agreement with Private Hospital Institutions all over Region 8 to allow patients to access the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients in private institutions.
In her message, Romualdez emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of a just and equitable society that should be accessible to all.
However, due to the limitations of public hospitals, Romualdez recognized the need to expand the government’s medical assistance to indigent patients beyond the confines of public hospitals.
“We aim to bridge the gap between the privileged and the underprivileged and ensuring that financial constraints no longer hinder access to medical care,” Romualdez said.
By extending medical assistance to private hospitals, Romualdez pointed out that this acknowledges the invaluable role private institutions play in serving communities and that it can alleviate the burden on our public healthcare system by establishing a symbiotic relationship between public and private institutions.
“Together, we can create a healthcare landscape where resources are shared, expertise is pooled and lives are transformed,” Romualdez said.
