Speaker, Tingog co-organize Eastern Visayas Infra Summit
THE Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez and the Tingog Party-list, in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 8, organized the Eastern Visayas Infrastructure Summit 2023 held on Aug. 30 – Sept. 1, 2023 at Summit Hotel, Tacloban City, Leyte.
Fourteen District Engineering Offices (DEO), DPWH Regional Office, infrastructure agencies, local government units, Regional Development Council members, private sector representatives and other stakeholders from the region participated in the three-day summit.
Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude A. Acidre, in his speech during the closing program of the activity, said that the summit marked the beginning of a new era in the region’s development.
The Infrastructure Summit served as a platform in coming up with a masterlist of priority projects for fiscal year 2024-2028, securing the Implementation Readiness documents and strengthen the collaboration among all involved agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
The summit resulted in the production of three key outputs namely: Project exhibit of three completed or on-going key projects; Presentation of outputs on project planning and design for five big ticket projects and 10-minute AVP on the Infrastructure Network Development Plan 2023-2028.
It can be remembered that the Eastern Visayas Region was greatly devastated in 2013 during the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda. Ten years after, the Office of the House Speaker and Tingog Partylist continue to strive hard in regaining the glory of the region.
“The path towards development will be filled with overwhelming challenges. However, I assure you, that if we maintain the partnerships and collaborations that we have forged in this event, there will be no challenge greater than our resolve for a better and a more progressive region,” Acidre added.
He also encouraged the participants to carry forward the momentum from the activity and continue to work hand-in-hand toward a better future for Eastern Visayas.
