SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, on behalf of the House of Representatives, extended Wednesday his heartfelt congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his recent victory, marking a new chapter in the enduring partnership between the Philippines and the United States (US).

“The American people have spoken, and we look forward to strengthening our enduring relationship with our oldest ally,” Speaker Romualdez said.

Speaker Romualdez expressed optimism about President-elect Trump’s leadership, which he believes will offer fresh opportunities to strengthen the economic ties between the two nations.

“President Trump’s leadership brings renewed opportunities to deepen ties between the Philippines and the U.S., particularly in economic partnerships that can open doors for trade and investment, benefiting countless Filipino lives,” he added.

Speaker Romualdez also emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in the region, particularly regarding the West Philippine Sea.

“We are optimistic that under President Trump, maritime security and regional stability will remain priorities, especially in the West Philippine Sea. The Philippines values a strong defense partnership with the U.S., supporting peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific.”

Highlighting the U.S.‘s role in supporting Philippine counter-terrorism efforts, Speaker Romualdez acknowledged its impact on the nation’s security.

“We also welcome continued U.S. support in counter-terrorism, which has greatly assisted our fight against extremism,” he said.

As the Philippines and the U.S. embark on this new chapter, Speaker Romualdez reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to a strategic alliance based on “mutual respect, shared interests, and the common goals of security and progress.”

“Congratulations once again, President Trump. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership,” Speaker Romualdez concluded.
