Solon’s son, caretaker slain
THE son of a lawmaker and his worker on Thursday were shot dead in Cagayan de Oro City.
Killed were Roland Sherwin Uy, the 45-year-old incumbent councilor of Bgy. Carmen, and Samuel Tabalan, the 73-year-old caretaker of the family’s sand and gravel business.
Uy is the son of Cagayan de Oro 1st district Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy and brother of City Vice Mayor Rainier Joaquin Uy.
Uy’s driver Rubie Alayuay told police that he was inside the office’s comfort room at the quarry site at Zone 1 in Bgy. Pagatapat around 1 p.m. on Thursday when he heard the assailant posing as a customer and asking for the price of gravel delivery.
“I heard someone asking how much was the gravel and then there were gunshots,” the driver, in a local dialect, told probers.
The driver said when he ran out of the comfort room to check, he was shocked to find his boss dead on a foldable chair.
Tabalan was also gunned down.
Police are conducting an in-depth investigation into the twin killings.
