SENATOR Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa presided over the Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation and Victims Compensation Wednesday, February 22, 2023, to get updates and reports from relevant government agencies on the rehabilitation and transformation of Marawi City.

Dela Rosa said the water system in the city, which is still in the “design stage,” and the naming of the board was among the committee’s priorities.

“We also look forward to the reports of the recently named Marawi Victims Compensation Board. We all fought for the enactment of Republic Act (RA) 11696 or the Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act of 2022 in the previous Congress, and we still continue to fight for its proper and speedy compensation in the current Congress,” Dela Rosa said during the hearing.

Sen. Robin Padilla expressed support for Dela Rosa as he urged the government to immediately facilitate the construction of local water facilities in Marawi City as part of its rehabilitation and developmental programs.

Padilla expressed his disappointment over the delays in improving water facilities in Marawi City.

“I have talked to previous representatives of LWUA and was given the runaround. Under your watch, I hope we can finally solve the problem,” Padilla said in Filipino.

Padilla is referring to Atty. Vicente Homer Revil, the newly appointed administrator of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).

In response, Revil vowed to coordinate with all concerned government agencies and do his best to hasten the construction of water facilities in Marawi City.
