Soldier found with head injuries in camp’s training ground dies

AUTHORITIES are conducting an in-depth investigation into the death of a member of the Philippine Army found with head injuries at the training ground inside Camp Capinpin, Bgy. Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal last Wednesday.

The victim was identified as PSG Ryan Importante y Franche, 39, an active member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines assigned at Sitio Galaxy, Bgy. Pinugay, in Baras town, and a resident of La Esperanza Mulawin, Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.

The victim’s wife May Ann Importante, 31, on Thursday went to the police station to put on blotter the mysterious death of her husband.

She said the victim was detailed as a training model of the Infantry Orientation Course (INFOC) Class 01-2021 – Division Training School in Camp Capinpin.

At 5:15 a.m. on January 5, the victim conducted an investigation into the alleged harassment to INFOC students of the Alpha Coy at the vicinity of the training school.

Pvt. Rayzil Acebes then discovered Importante lying on the ground unconscious, with head injuries.

Acebes immediately sought help.

Importante was rushed to the Army Station Hospital inside the camp for treatment of severe head injuries and was later transferred to V. Luna Medical Center, in Quezon City.

At 9:15 p.m. on the same day, the victim was declared dead by Dr. Gaudy Franz Collada.
