SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija– Nueva Ecija and Manila eked hard-earned wins against separate foes to get back on track in the Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup before a jampacked Nagaño gym here.

Jordan Ingel scored 18 points and Jerick Nakpil wound up with 16 markers, six rebounds, and four assists as the Slashers held off Cagayan de Oro-PSP 79-72 for their second win.

Jeremy Ingusan and Daniel De Guzman had nine and eight points, respectively for the home team which redeemed itself from an 86-102 loss to Sta. Rosa Laguna last Dec. 1 and improved to 2-2.

The loss kept Cagayan de Oro winless in four outings, counting an 87-92 defeat to San Pedro Laguna last Saturday in the league presented by Dumper party-list, Winzir, SCD Cosmetics, and Converge and supported by Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton.

Dariel Bayla’s 19-point and 11-rebound effort went for naught for Cagayan de Oro, while Ian Yutuc and Jamil Ortuoste got 15 and 13, respectively.

The Citystars edged Bicol 95-90 for their second triumph.

Manila drew strength from Kyles Neypes who banged in 23 points and eight caroms, while Rence Alcoriza chipped in 17 markers and five rebounds

Levi Hernandez and Wowie Escosio also combined for 30 points for Manila, which atoned for an 80-87 setback to Boracay last Saturday for a 2-2 card.

The Spicy Oragons reeled to their second loss in a row, including a 67-73 defeat to defending champion Davao Occidental-Cocolife last Dec. 3 and dropped to 2-3.

James Martinez dazzled anew with 31 points for Bicol, but it was not enough, with only Alwin Alday scoring in double figures for the team with 15 markers and four rebounds.

Action returns to Metro Manila with the Tigers taking on the San Pedro Laguna ARS Warriors at 6 p.m. at the Trinity University of Asia Gym in Quezon City.

Pampanga Royce Hotel debuts against the Islanders at 8 p.m.
