AFTER two years in hiding, a security guard accused of raping his 7-year-old daughter was arrested by authorities in a manhunt operation Tuesday afternoon in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said John Rex Muda, 38, was arrested by joint elements of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) led by P/SMSgt. Addrich Reagan De Leon and Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office (RMFB-NCRPO) at his house on 507 Int. Gulayan St., Bgy. Catmon at around 1:55 p.m.

Col. Barot said Muda was listed as one of the most wanted persons in Calabanga, Camarines Sur and was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Erwin Virgilio Poblete Ferrer of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Fifth Judicial Region Branch 63 of Calabanga, Camarines Sur.

WSS chief P/CMSgt. Gilbert Bansil said the suspect was accused of raping his minor child in Calabanga on May of 2019.

Muda allegedly hod after the grandfather of the victim learned about her ordeal and filed a case of rape against him.

On June 18, 2021, the court issued an arrest warrant against the suspect.

Authorities were able to trace his whereabouts when he tried to renew his security guard license online at the office of Supervisory Office for Security and Investigative Agency (SOSIA) in Camp Crame last week.
