Sikyu dies in Batangas ambush

A 36-year-old private security guard was declared dead at the hospital after being ambushed by unknown assailants while driving a car along the National Road in Bgy. Balagtas, Batangas City the other night.

Batangas City Police Station chief Lt. Col Gerry M. Laylo said the victim, who suffered several gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, is identified as Archie Aceveda y Litan, married, a private security and resident of Bgy. Mahabang Parang, this city.

Case officers PSMS Teodorico Magboo, PCpl Jon Rien Mendroz, and PCpl Juan Ferador E. Alzate’s initial investigation disclosed that around 11 p.m., the victim was seen driving a Honda City Sedan bearing plate number XJC 804 along the said highway heading towards Batangas, when the unidentified suspects onboard an unknown four-wheeled vehicle shot the car’s victim several times.

The suspects immediately fled after the shooting heading towards an unknown direction while the victim was brought to St. Camillus Hospital located at Diversion Road, Bgy. Bolbok, Batangas City for medical treatment, but was pronounced dead on arrival at around 12: 02 a.m. the next day by the assisting physician Dr. Benjamin Macatangay.

Police recovered at the scene the car riddled with bullet holes; 10 pieces of fired cartridge casings and four pieces of unfired cartridges for caliber 5.56; 16 pieces FCCs and one unfired cartridge of caliber 45. These were transported to the Batangas Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for forensic investigations.

The cadaver of the victim was taken to San Sebastian Funeral Homes in Bgy. Balagtas, Batangas City for autopsy.
