A multi-sectoral group that is pushing Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso to run for president appealed on Saturday to all Manilans to share the remarkable qualities of their city chief executive.

Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas Secretary General Elmer Argaño made the call in a weekly forum on Saturday sponsored by the Southern Metro Manila Press Club held at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

“Kahit po umasenso at gumanda ang Maynila, no man, no city is an island, iisang bansa po tayo, iisang bangka at sa laki ng problema, kailangan natin ang isang lider na puwede tayong i-ahon lahat hindi lang ang mga taga-Maynila,” Argaño said.

The former deputy executive director of I-Act, along with Parents Enabling Parents president Philip Piccio, shared their belief that Mayor Domagoso’s political will is among his best qualities as a leader which he demonstrated in carrying out all his programs in the city of Manila for a short period of time.

“Political will is the heart and soul of every politician. Kailangan kasi sa lider ng bansa gaya ni Mayor Isko ay ‘yung may political will to say no to everything, isa-isantabi ang pakikipagkaibigan, kayang gawin ang lahat ng ikabubuti ng bansa ng walang pag-aalinlangan, fulfill his promises through action and not just through words kaya sumali ako dito bilang magulang na ang dapat bigyang kahalaganan, una sa lahat, ikaw muna, Pilipinas,” Piccio said.

During their conversation with PITX Corporate Affairs head Jason Salvador, Piccio and Argaño said the clamor for Mayor Domagoso to run for president is growing and this was proven during their visits to different regions.

“Nasa malalayong probinsiya ang clamor, andun ang mga launching with different alliances of IM Pilipinas, mga ordinaryong mamayan, hindi pulitiko, kundi magsasaka, mgangingisda, teachers, frontliners, drivers,” Argaño said.
