AUTHORITIES arrested a security guard while allegedly in possession of a loose firearm on Wednesday in Quezon City.

The 36-year-old suspect was apprehended by policemen at a security checkpoint at the corner of Maginhawa and Marilag Streets in Barangay UP Village at around 8:35 p.m.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director P/Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said policemen flagged down the security guard, who was on a motorcycle, for a routine inspection.

While the lawmen were checking the documents of his motorcycle, they saw a firearm protruding from the suspect’s waist.

When policemen frisked him, the suspect yielded a .9mm caliber handgun.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and RA 11917, also known as the Private Security Services Industry Act.
