Serving of arrest warrant leaves 2 dead in Laguna
TWO suspected drug pushers on Wednesday were killed in an alleged encounter with operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit and Binan City Police about to serve them a warrant of arrest in Bgy. Canlalay, Biñan City, Laguna.
Biñan City police chief Lt. Col. Giovanni Martinez identified the slain suspects as Antonio Dali alias “Tala,” who is included in the Top 10 Most Wanted Persons in the provincial level, and Jhondie Helis alias “Jhondy” of Bgy. Canlalay, Binan City.
A report submitted by PIU chief Lt. Col. Arvin Avelino said operatives were about to serve a warrant of arrest against the suspects for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 when the shootout occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers were approaching the village when they were spotted by the suspects who immediately shot at the lawmen.
Police retaliated, killing the two on the spot.
Recovered from the slain suspects were 13 small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu weighing 50 grams, a digital weighing scale, P3,500drug money drug and drug paraphernalia.
“Labas-masok na sa kulungan ang dalawa dahil sa illegal na droga,” a prober said.

Notorious Bicol drug dealer killed in Naga shootout
A “high-value drug target” in Bicol region was killed in a shootout with undercover officers in Naga City shortly before noon Tuesday, Police Regional Office 5 director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said.
Don Candelaria Gumba described as a “high-value priority target” of the PRO5 engaged undercover officers in a firefight in Zone 1 Proper, Bgy. Lerma, Naga City at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday while about to be arrested, said the Bicol police director.
Back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect on the spot. Recovered from the slain suspect were the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill, three pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, P970 in different bills all believed to be part of his drug proceeds and an improvised12-gauge shotgun with three live ammunition.
“We have neutralized an armed and dangerous drug trafficker who has gained notoriety for his involvement in the trafficking of shabu in Bicol region,” Estomo said.
Estomo commended members of the Naga City Police Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit, the PRO5 Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Special Operations Unit, the PRO5 Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for their role in the neutralization of the armed suspect.
He said that the sting was supervised by Col. Marlon Catan who, along with his men, will be given award for their latest accomplishment in the PRO5’s crackdown against illegal drug trafficking and abuse.
