SEN. Grace Poe presided over the Finance Subcommittee K’s deliberation of the proposed 2024 budget of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its attached agencies on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Citing the role of the DOTr in the country’s development, Poe noted the P108.3-billion increase in the budget of the agency — the highest among government agencies — under the 2024 National Expenditure Program.

The DOTr was allocated a P214.3-billion budget for next year. “Clearly hinged on this department is also the progress of the country…from the airports, seaports, land transportation, as well as security,” said Poe.

It was revealed that a big chunk of the budget will focus on infrastructure development in support of President Marcos Jr.’s “Build Better More” initiative.
