Senate 2nd reading okay of Marawi Compensatio Act lauded

DEPUTY Speaker and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman has commended the Senate leadership on the second reading approval of the proposed Marawi Compensation Act, which will allow siege victims a dignified return to their beloved city.

“Lubos naming ikinagagalak ang desisyon ng Senado na aprubahan sa 2nd Reading ang Marawi Compensation Bill, at kami ay nagpapasalamat sa ating mga senador na bumoto para dito,” said Hataman, former governor of the now-defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).Hataman expressed hope the Senate will approve this week the bill on third and final reading before Congress adjourns for the May 2022 national polls.

“Nais naming magpasalamat kay Sen. Sonny Angara, chair ng Senate Finance Committee, at kay Sen. Bato dela Rosa, chair ng Senate Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation, at kina Sens. Migz Zubiri, Joel Villanueva at Risa Hontiveros sa pagsusulong ng panukalang ito at sa buong Senado,” Hataman added.

Earlier, Hataman and House Assistant Majority Leader and Anak Mindanao party-list Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan lauded the efforts of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez on the passage on third and final reading of the proposed measure under House Bill (HB) 9925 or The Marawi Compensation Act.
