NAKATAKDANG magsampa ng kaukulang kaso ang Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) sa security guard na naghagis ng aso mula sa footbridge ng SM North EDSA.

Sa isang pahayag, mariing kinondena ng PAWS ang pangyayari at hinimok ang mga awtoridad na imbestigahan ito.

Ayon sa PAWS, nakikipag-ugnayan na sila sa mga testigo upang makapagsampa na ng kaso laban sa security guard.

Kahapon ay isang netizen ang nakakita kung paano hinagis ng guwardiya ang isang tuta sa grupo ng mga kabataan.

Bago umano ito ay nagkaroon ng pagtatalo ang security guard at ang grupo ng mga kabataan na may alaga ng tuta.

Ayon sa saksi, pinapaalis umano ng nasabing guwardiya ang grupo sa footbridge, sa gitna ng pagsaway ay hinagis umano ng suspek ang alagang tuta ng grupo sa footbridge dahilan upang mamatay ang aso.

Agad niya itong ipinost sa kaniyang social media account at agad na nag viral.

Ayon naman sa statement ng SM North EDSA ay agad na nilang tinanggal ang sangkot na guwardiya. Nagsasagawa na rin umano ng imbestigasyon ang security agency.

“With extreme sadness, we sympathize with the group of youngsters regarding the incident that happened outside our mall today.

We have called the attention of the security agency to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter. The Security Guard has been dismissed and is no longer allowed to service any of our malls nationwide.

As a pet-friendly establishment, we strongly condemn any acts that endanger or harm the lives of animals.”

In the reported incident, the security guard allegedly had a heated altercation with street children who had the puppy with them. According to witnesses, the guard, in order to show that he meant business (he was telling the children repeatedly to leave the footbridge), threw the puppy over the bridge. The puppy died from the fall.

This behavior of the guard and the act of killing the puppy is certainly what that the Animal Welfare Act seeks to punish.”
