
SEA Games athletes, students join Asian Games Fun Run
TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite – Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President and Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino led the 19th Asian Games Fun Run held at JP Rizal Street, Barangay Kaybagal South here, Sunday morning, June 5, 2023.
The fun run is attended by Olympians, recent SEA (Southeast Asian) Games medalists, and thousands of students that aim to drum up interest for the quadrennial tournament, which will be held in Hangzhou, China, this coming September 2023.
Olympian Boxer Eumir Marcial, notable athletes, wushu artist Agatha Wong, swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi, SEAG winners Jason Balabal (wrestling), Precious Cabuya and Mark Julius Rodelas (obstacle course race), taekwondo jin Sam Morrison, and athletes commission representatives Nikko Huelgas and Cheska Altamonte participated in the program as the kick-off of quadrennial sports meet.
According to Tolentino, “This project of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Hangzhou Asian Games Olympic Committee is for the public awareness of the forthcoming Asian Games.”
The 19th Asian Games will be held on Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 in Hangzhou, China, with 40 sports consisting of 61 disciplines will be contested.
The country, according to Tolentino, is expected to send 426 athletes to the quadrennial meet.
