ONCE elected as vice president, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte plans to establish satellite offices in every region.

This is to bring services closer to the people from Luzon to Mindanao, and for easier distribution of any needs of the provinces, cities and others.

“Nakaplano na ako kung ako manalo ng vice president, and that is to create satellite offices in lahat ng regions,” Mayor Sara said in a press conference on the conclusion of the Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas Ride (MNPR).

In the 28-day caravan, Mayor Sara was able to campaign for herself and the Uniteam candidates, and to personally speak to the people across the country.

She also saw personally the situation on the ground and the reach of the government’s development efforts.

“If there is one particular area (that I will go back to), that would be Eastern Visayas dahil compared to the other areas na mga nadaanan natin, sila talaga yung hindi pa maganda yung infrastructure development,” she said.

Mayor Sara is the vice presidential candidate of Lakas-CMD and the Hugpong ng Pagbabago. She was also adopted by the PDP-Laban and People’s Reform Party.

The presidential daughter has stressed the importance of strengthening the Regional Development Councils (RDCs) to pursue better infrastructure projects which will benefit both the citizens and investors.

“Madami kami nadaanan na mga areas na makikita mo talaga na unequal yung development ng Pilipinas, particularly in terms of infrastructure development, and this is something that the Regional Development Councils should work on. Dapat pinapalakas natin yung mga RDCs natin,” she said.

She added the support groups will become counterparts of her office in delivering services from the government down to the grassroots. This mechanism, she added, will give convenient and fast access to services as “it is easier for one person to move around than 13 regions going to one office.”

“Ang plano namin, if I win the Vice Presidency, is to create satellite offices, tap the parallel group na willing to work for the country, and then hop from one satellite to another to make sure kung ano kailangan ng region, kung ano kailangan ng particular province,” she said.

In a related story, Mayor Sara is pushing for additional support to local government units (LGUs) in order to further strengthen and develop the economies of cities and towns across the country.

“LGUs’, including, and especially municipalities, need national government assistance in developing financial stability and building up operational capacity to enable official response to crises without sacrificing priority programs and projects,” Mayor Sara, the Lakas-CMD and HNP chairperson, said.

She and her presidential tandem former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) has been pushing for equitable development in the local government level, beginning in the villages as they stressed that no Filipino should be left behind in the country’s economic development.

By prioritizing assistance to LGUs geared at improving their economic and financial standing, Duterte said that towns and municipalities would be more than ready and capable to meet head on and address the effects of natural disasters and calamities.
