Sara urges women to be micro biz leaders, entrepreneurs
GUIGUINTO, Bulacan – LAKAS-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Tuesday morning urged Filipino women to become entrepreneurs by going into micro-businesses to help their communities and the economy in general.
Duterte made the appeal in the course of a rally at the Guiguinto Municipal Arena here.
Local officials led by Vice Gov. Whilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, who is running for governor, and Guiguinto Mayor Ambrocio “Boy” Cruz, who is running for Congress, organized the event in support of the UniTeam Alliance.
Duterte also cited the heroism of Trinidad Tecson, one of the heroes of the Philippine-American war whom Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo called the “Mother of Biak na Bato.”
“Makabuluhan po ang celebration ng UniTeam ng International Women’s Day dito po sa Bulacan dahil ang isa sa mga Pilipina na napakalaki ang naitulong sa ating kalayaan ay tagarito sa probinsiya ng Bulacan, si Trinidad Tecson,” Duterte said in a massive rally here.
In urging women to go into business, Duterte cited Davao City’s business development project “Magnegosio Ta Dai” under her leadership.
“Lagi ko pong sinasabi sa mga kababaihan doon sa amin sa siyudad ng Davao, na ang mga kababaihan po ay napakalaki ng maitutulong sa ating mga komunidad, hindi lang as women leaders pwede din na ang mga kababaihan ay makatulong sa ekonomiya ng ating komunidad ng ating mga barangay ng ating mga purok,” Duterte said.
“Lagi ko pong ginagawa doon ang pangangampanya at adbokasiya ng pagnenegosyo o entrepreneurship ng kababaihan. Doon po sa amin mayroon kaming napaka-successful na project, ang tawag po doon ay ‘Magnegosyo Ta Dai’. Sinasabihan po naming sila micro-enterprise, napakalaking tulong na po non sa mga bahay-bahay sa komunidad,” Duterte said.
She also reiterated that if she and her presidential standard-bearer former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. win the elections on May 9, they would strive to unite the country so it could collectively solve its problems.
“Dalawa po ang ikinakampanya namin lagi. Una po, nasa pangalan namin, Marcos-Duterte UniTeam, pagkakaisa po. Sinasabi po namin na kapag kami ang inyong pinili na maging pangulo at pangalawang pangulo ng ating bansa, pagkatapos po ng eleksyon ay buburahin po namin ang lahat ng kulay, isa lang po tayo, Pilipino tayong lahat, hihilahin po namin kayo papunta sa tuloy-tuloy na kaunlaran ng ating bansa,” Duterte said.
She said UniTeam’s second priority is the attainment of peace throughout the country.
“Pangalawa po, kapayapaan. Amin pong ikino-commit sa inyong lahat na itutuloy namin ang mga reforma na nasimulang ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Duterte. Una po don ay ang Build, Build, Build… napakaimportante po na ang ating bansa ay gumastos sa patubig, daan, kuryente, tulay, skyway, subway,” she said.
Duterte added that UniTeam would also pursue the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs and criminality.
“Dahil gusto po natin walang nanggugulo sa atin kung saan man tayo nakatira dito sa ating bansa,” she added.
Marcos and Duterte paid a courtesy call Tuesday morning on Bishop Ted Malangen of Jesus Christ the Deliverer Church here.
The tandem also led a UniTeam rally at Meycauayan College Annex, Bgy. Malhacan, Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Later in the afternoon, the UniTeam Alliance was scheduled to hold a rally at the Open Space, Bgy. Sta. Clara, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
