SAN PEDRO, Laguna — Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte urged Filipinos to help in ensuring clean, orderly and peaceful national and local elections on May 9.

Mayor Sara made the appeal during her campaign sortie here after attending a caucus with local leaders and residents at JAM Compound here.

“We are worried about election day and we always call on everyone to support honest, orderly and peaceful elections for our country,” Mayor Sara told reporters in an ambush interview.

In her speech, Mayor Sara asked people to bring “codigo” o a small paper with the names of the people they will vote.

“Magdala po tayo ng listahan ng mga iboboto natin, kasi madami tayo kailangang i-shade. Para hindi tayo magkamali ng mga iboboto isulat na natin sa gabi ng May 8,” Mayor Sara said.

Aside from campaigning herself, the presidential daughter also asked voters to vote for the Uniteam senatorial candidates as well as some of her close friends who are also running for senate.

According to Mayor Sara, the UniTeam is also preparing for the elections, canvassing of votes and the proclamation rallies.

The legislature is scheduled to reconvene on May 23, two weeks after the elections, principally to canvass the votes for president and vice president and declare the winners.

The term of office of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo will end at noon of June 30.

Despite being a front-runner, Mayor Sara said she and runningmate former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. are maintaining a running-scare stance in the homestretch of the campaign.

“We are always running scared even if we are 17 days away from election day,” she said.

She said they are revisiting the Calabarzon area, Central Luzon and the Bicol region to reach out to more voters.
